Jazzland
The special concern of JAZZLAND is still to present the entire history of jazz, which in almost 100 years has taken a similar development to European music from strict, precisely structured forms to free playing styles - including the so-called "serious" Music "took around 400 years. JAZZLAND tries to give jazz the opportunity to sound out all niches and facets of music, which in the hectic development of the last decades have been left unexplored in part, to sound out anew and in detail.

When JAZZLAND was founded in 1972 there was only one local indigenous scene. Through the pioneering work to bring international stars together with local musicians, das' landl has significantly enriched the diverse Austrian jazz scene and thus enriched Viennese cultural life with jazz as the music form of the 20th century.

In addition to almost all prominent local musicians, well over 300 US stars performed in the basement under the Ruprechtskirche - from blues legends such as Roosevelt Sykes, Memphis Slim, Big Joe Williams and Little Brother Montgomery, to classic jazz musicians such as Wild Bill Davison, Bud Freeman, Max Kaminsky and Jimmy McPartland, swingers like Teddy Wilson, Clark Terry, Harry "Sweets" Edison and Benny Carter, modern jazzers like Art Farmer, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Ray Brown and Herb Ellis and avant-garde musicians like Dave Liebman, Lee Konitz, Paul Motian and Bob Brookmeyer.

The special concern of JAZZLAND is still to present the entire history of jazz, which in almost 100 years has taken a similar development to European music from strict, precisely structured forms to free playing styles - including the so-called "serious" Music "took around 400 years. In terms of gastronomy, JAZZLAND offers its guests solid Viennese cuisine with international toppings - Wiener Schnitzel and Cevapcici, various pasta dishes, baked cheese and a notorious bean goulash that many guests enjoy over and over again.

The wine selection is kept small in accordance with the jazz cellar atmosphere - in addition to an excellent draft wine from Franz Grill from Fels am Wagram (which is also famous for its wonderful, mild apricot brandy), JAZZLAND also offers bottles from the Berger winery in Gedersdorf.

Domestic and international spirits round off a gastronomic offer that actually goes beyond the normal range of a jazz club.
